Celebrity Cruises unveils third Edge ship Beyond
MSC Grandiosa to operate
Southampton sailings in 2023 MSC Cruises last month confirmed that MSC Grandiosa will sail from Southampton during spring and summer 2023. The line also put its 2024 world voyage on sale. After arriving in the UK on April 24, 2023, Grandiosa will offer 23
ex-UK cruises, including mini-cruises to Rotterdam and Bruges, as well as longer cruises to the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands. Antonio Paradiso, MSC Cruises UK & Ireland managing director,
said: “We have been delighted with the response to the MSC Virtuosa sailings for 2022 and look forward to bringing another
of our largest and most-loved ships to the port of Southampton.” The line has also put a 121-night world cruise departing in January
2024 on sale. The itinerary on MSC Poesia follows a new route taking in 52 destinations across 31 countries. Prices start from £12,399.

Hurtigruten aims for zero emissions by 2030
Hurtigruten Norwegian Coastal Express aims to create zero- emissions ships to sail the coast of Norway in the next eight years. Norwegian research institute Sintef, which specialises in green maritime technology and energy systems, has been commissioned to work on the project, with the first new-generation ship due in 2030. The scheme includes all aspects of a new ship-build programme, from design, propulsion, energy and fuel to hotel operations and digital solutions.
The goal is that the new ships will be emission-free to both air and sea, and sustainable from a circular economy perspective, according to Hurtigruten.
