The cruise industry will be celebrating the return of the Clia Conference from tomorrow, with its big, jubilant #LoveCruise theme. It’s intended not only to rekindle agents’ love of cruise – but to help them win over the new-to-cruise market too.

Tactics to tempt new-to-cruise clients Sailing the Mekong with Lotus Cruises

With that in mind, in this issue we explore how lines are attempting to get first-timers to fall in love with cruise in the wake of the pandemic (pages 18-19). We also offer a look inside the three ships at the show: MSC Virtuosa, P&O Cruises’ Iona and Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas (pages 10-15).

And with growing opportunities in family cruising – also a key focus of the conference this year – we shine a light on the lines making cruising fun for all ages (pages 33-38). One of my highlights is a look inside Disney Dream: quite possibly the ultimate cruise for travellers with little ones in tow. Elsewhere, our Port Report takes in Seattle’s top sights as the iconic Space Needle turns 60 (page 27). And with river cruising in Asia back on the cards, we float on the Mekong, meeting the people who have shaped this iconic region (pages 20-25). We hope this inspires you to feel the love for cruise again too.
