Lauren Curd @Lozzalotte CT Travel Group The government are ruining our wonderful industry. We want to send people away as safely as we can and they seem determined to make it confusing and as difficult as possible. They don’t have a clue!

Story: Tui and Jet2 cancel Balearic and Canary Islands holidays

If the government wants airlines and tour operators to survive, it will need to introduce a scheme to guarantee refunds for cancellations if it wants anyone to book a trip in the foreseeable future. If it’s OK to subsidise the restaurants and cafes for a month, why not help our airlines survive? Duncan Heenan

Jet2: The Waitrose model

Story: Jet2holidays outlines 2021 capacity reduction for ‘year of caution’

It seems that Jet2 has made the sensible and robust decision to go for quality rather than quantity. It now seems to be following the Waitrose model of retailing rather than Lidl or Asda. Certainly Jet2holidays’ prices for summer 2021 have increased by between 10% to 20% compared with the same holiday for the same period this year. Speakthetruth

Victoria Costello @Victoria21_atTC Travel Counsellors ‘Who’d be a travel agent at the moment?’ Yes! Thank you @EamonnHolmes for acknowledging the awful situation we are in. If you know an agent, send them love, as I can guarantee they need it at the moment!

Chris Wright @ChrisStosWright Sunvil Holidays/GIC Jumped on phones yesterday to try to help tackle horrible call- wait times. Even with everyone back from furlough, a combo of new enquiries, operations restarting & cancellations makes for a perfect storm.

Spain: Where is the data for decisions?

Story: Spain quarantine: ‘There is too much mystery behind these decisions’ When Paul Charles (pictured) states that “they” have seen data, is this data confidential or is the general public allowed to check and understand the data that led to this decision? I am still unable to find the science behind the initial Portugal decision and am none the wiser about this one on Spain. Does anyone have a link or source as to why these decisions are being taken? Laura’s Travel @LaurasTravel Laura’s Travel Village I’ve turned away quite a few bookings in the past week. I refuse to get on the hamster wheel of booking then refunding. I’ve told clients I’m not in control, neither is your airline or travel provider.
