Legoland Water Park to open at Gardaland Resort in May
Juliet Dennis
Europe’s first Legoland Water Park will feature a river ride adventure, a Miniland of iconic Italian monuments and a ‘beach party’ water play area. The park, which will be based at Italy’s Gardaland
Resort, is due to open on May 28, 2020. The Lego River Adventure will offer customised
rafts that holidaymakers can build themselves using large floating Lego bricks. They can then float along the river through most of the park, including through an undersea-themed cave. The river will skirt Miniland, an area hosting about a
hundred Italian monuments made of Lego bricks. The monuments will include Milan Cathedral, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Rome’s Colosseum and Saint Mark’s Basilica in Venice. Another attraction will be the Beach Party, featuring
play areas with slides and water cannon, while the Lego Creation Island will allow youngsters to build personalised Lego boats to launch in the water. There will also be the chance to build using Duplo bricks, decorate a sandcastle with Lego bricks and create giant walls using soft bricks. A Duplo Splash attraction for young children will
offer an aquatic animal-themed area of water slides, while the Jungle Adventure will feature a range of water slides for families. The Pirate Bay attraction will boast a large family swimming pool featuring Lego characters and a pirates’ fortress. Gardaland sales and marketing director Luca Marigo
said: “There will be special themed areas, with lots of water slides for kids of all ages, as well as a creative area where children can discover the fun of Duplo and Lego bricks, plus pools with sunbeds and large gazebos.”
