Crystal Ski offers £100 deposits and boosts Snow Promise
Crystal Ski Holidays’ winter 2024-25 programme has been released with a low deposit offer of £100 per person across all destinations. The Tui-owned operator
features more than 120 resorts in 14 countries across Europe, North America and Japan. The company has also
recently introduced a more flexible Crystal Snow Promise for customers. It now allows all customers
who book before November 30 to change their holiday before they travel fee-free if fewer than 10% of runs are open in the ski area to which they are travelling. Customers can upgrade to the
Crystal Snow Promise Extra for £25 per person, which provides more flexibility with fee-free changes if fewer than 50% of runs are open at the client’s resort.

Inghams Ski offers extra rail packages to reduce emissions
Samantha Mayling
Inghams Ski has introduced additional rail packages as part of efforts to tackle carbon emissions produced by winter sports holidays. Train travel is being offered via Eurostar from
London St Pancras with changes en route to France, Austria, Switzerland and Italy, covering 22 resorts. The initiative comes after Inghams identified
that 59% of carbon released on an average holiday comes from customer flights. With most destinations being short-haul from the
UK, the operator saw how rail travel could boost its drive to halve carbon emissions by 2030. A seven-night half-board holiday at Hotel Butterfly
in Zermatt, Switzerland, costs from £1,499, departing December 16. It includes all rail travel, accommodation and transfers, based on two adults sharing. Trains depart from London at 06.31 and arrive in Zermatt

at 18.51. The same holiday with flights from Gatwick costs £1,489 and would take one hour and 40 minutes, plus about eight hours for check-in, transfers, wait times and four-hour train journey from Geneva to Zermatt. Senior sustainability officer Krissy Roe said: “Flights
make up the largest slice of the pie when it comes to our holidays’ carbon footprint and it’s one of the fastest- growing sources of greenhouse gas emissions in Europe. “That’s why we’re determined to make it as easy
as possible for customers to choose to travel to our resorts by train instead of plane. To be able to offer a lower-carbon alternative that is convenient and competitive on price is very exciting, and travelling through, rather than above, these European landscapes is going to be a big part of the future of travel. “We are already seeing the effects of temperature
changes on our mountain environments. We must act collectively now to reduce our emissions.”
