Tauck trumpets new cruises’ ‘signature land experiences’
Phil Davies
Tauck is expanding in Europe with six new river cruise itineraries confirmed for 2024, the most it has ever added in a single year. Lunch at the peak of Germany’s highest mountain –
Zugspitze, standing at nearly 10,000 feet – is among the excursion options in next year’s collection. Other food-and-drink experiences include dinner
at a private palace in Vienna that hosted Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert and which served as a film location for the classic 1934 movie The Thin Man. The evening at Palais Pallavicini, built in 1784, will
include a reception, gala dinner and classical music by performers in period dress. The palace visit features on Tauck’s new 12-day Danube Kingdoms: Bavaria, Austria & Hungary itinerary, which costs from £5,590. Meanwhile, guests on the 10-day Danube, Main and
Rhine sailing – from £4,790 – will enjoy an evening at Schlosshotel Kronberg, temporary home to General Dwight D Eisenhower for seven years after the Second World War. The golf course he designed is still in use.
6Number of new river cruise itineraries unveiled for next year
Several trips in the new Tauck collection include pre
or post-cruise stays in cities featured by the company for the first time, including Montreux and Geneva in Switzerland and Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany. Chief executive Dan Mahar said: “We’re absolutely
thrilled to be expanding our cruise offerings in such an unprecedented way with exciting new itineraries that will appeal to our loyal past guests and new travellers alike. “These signature land experiences are included
in our cruise prices. They feature exclusive Tauck-guided sightseeing and boast stays at wonderful properties such as Fairmount Montreux Palace, the Riessersee Hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the InterContinental Geneve in Geneva.” The 2024 river cruises are featured in a newly
published brochure being distributed to agents.
