Viking claims China ‘first’ with launch of three itineraries
Viking has claimed the introduction of three “first-of- their-kind” China itineraries for international passengers in 2024. The 10 to 20-day voyages
include a domestic sailing along China’s coast with calls at ports that only Viking has access to, according to the line. The sailings will operate
between September and November on Viking Yi Dun, formerly Viking Sun. The Chinese-flagged Viking
Yi Dun will be the line’s first ship dedicated to the foreign market to operate sailings in China. The three itineraries are the
10-day China Discovery voyage, with prices starting at £4,590; the 15-day Classic China & the Coast sailing, from £6,990; and the 20-day Wonders of China round-trip voyage, from £9,790.

MSC Cruises unveils flash sale for 70 sailings through 2024
Josie Klein
MSC Cruises is offering discounts on 70 sailings this winter and summer 2024 in a flash sale. The promotion, which runs until January 29,
includes cruises in the Mediterranean and Caribbean and from Southampton aboard MSC Virtuosa and new ship MSC Euribia. An upgrade to a balcony cabin is available at no
extra cost in the incentive, which is available only to UK and Irish customers, and includes sailings on MSC Opera, MSC Fantasia and MSC Seaside. Sample prices start at £979 for a seven-night Med
sailing in a balcony cabin on MSC Fantasia, inclusive of flights. An MSC Seaside 14-night southern Caribbean
itinerary, including British Airways flights from Gatwick, starts at £2,709 for a balcony cabin. UK and Ireland sales director Steve Williams said: “With Blue Monday behind us and a historical trend
of the final two weeks in January being our busiest for sales, we’re seizing this opportunity. Additionally, this flash sale provides our invaluable travel agents with the chance to capitalise on securing numerous sales during this crucial time of the year for us.” Meanwhile, MSC Cruises has cancelled three
repositioning Grand Voyage sailings in April due to a risk to shipping in the Red Sea. A 24-night MSC Splendida sailing from Durban to
Genoa, a 21-night MSC Opera cruise from Dubai to Genoa and a 23-night MSC Virtuosa sailing from Dubai to Southampton have all been cancelled as a result of ongoing attacks on merchant vessels in the region. All affected passengers are being contacted and
given three options: a full refund; a rebooking on a future Grand Voyage of a similar duration for free; or a booking for any other MSC Cruises itinerary and receipt of a partial refund or payment of an additional fee for the difference in price of the original booking.
