BRAD BENNETTS: ‘The events have far exceeded expectations’

Kuoni to host more face-to-face training

Kuoni is to expand its Worldwide College for travel agents next year after this year’s events exceeded expectations.

The operator relaunched its popular training scheme earlier this summer after a gap of six years. It has held day and evening

events in Manchester, Birmingham and London, training 300 agents on its Indian Ocean programme. Head of trade sales Brad Bennetts said Kuoni plans to extend Worldwide College events to five locations nationwide next year and to cover destinations such as the Far East and the Caribbean with more supplier partners. “The events have far exceeded

expectations,” he said. “The London event booked out

in a week and we had 200 register for 100 places. It’s the biggest investment Kuoni has made in training the trade for several years. “We plan to do the next one after

quarter two next year. We will have more locations and concentrate on day events, which have been more

popular. Agents have been asking [if we’d hold events] in Scotland and the West Country.” Bennetts said Kuoni would continue to focus on face-to-face rather than online training, and may introduce Woldwide College certificates. The operator is particularly keen

to re-engage with agents it has not worked with in recent years. “We want to reach out to new

agents and grow the business,” he added. “It was no surprise that as we opened our own shops, agents got nervous, but they have quickly learnt we are not there to steal their customers.” Training sessions include

breakout sessions and fun elements such as cocktail making. They are followed by an online quiz and prize draw. Six agent winners are

going to the Maldives in September. kuoni.co.uk
