Airports should stop selling booze so early


Story: Air passengers arrested for drunken misbehaviour ‘up 50% in a year’ I have a photo of a poster outside The Food Village at Manchester airport advertising “Breakfast Special: Full English and a pint of Carling £9.99 served before 11.30am”. I never cease to be amazed at the sight of people in airports drinking lager at 8am. Other commentators are right: ban the booze and hike the fines.

Story: Monarch reports losses of £290m as it reviews business model When there was ‘just’ the easyJet and Ryanair competition, Monarch’s ‘limp’ wasn’t too bad but Jet2.com have also come into their space to almost cripple them. The decision to ditch Cosmos and rebrand Monarch Holidays played into Jet2’s hands. HARRY COLE


The bad press the company suffered last year due to the Atol renewal has damaged the brand. Couple this with a weak pound and the picture is bleak, with too many airlines fighting for too few passengers on a lot of Monarch routes. PHIL
