Carnival picks Fun team

Carnival Cruise Line last year invited agents to apply to be one of the line’s inaugural Fun Ambassadors. Agents were asked to tell the line what they enjoyed about their job and suggest changes they would make to Carnival’s Loyalty Rocks Club trade programme. Carnival Cruise Line’s UK managing director, Iain Baillie, and his team were inundated with applications.

BECKY NORTH Cruise.co.uk Becky North knew instantly that she had to apply to be a Carnival Fun Ambassador – even though she had never sailed with the line.

The Cruise.co.uk agent hailed the

competition as a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity and already has some ideas. “As soon as I saw it advertised, I

knew that becoming a Carnival Fun Ambassador would suit me down to a tee – I just had to apply,” she said. Explaining why she was selected, Baillie highlighted Becky’s innovation and enthusiasm. “She is extremely innovative with her ideas of using different network platforms to promote the brand, which will be useful when putting ideas together,” he said.

Eight agents have now been picked to represent the line and help drive trade engagement while enjoying a string of eye-catching trips to learn more about the brand. The Fun Ambassadors met each other for the first time in central London where they were whizzed around the capital in Classic Mini Coopers to launch the programme. Harry Kemble hears why they applied.

CRAIG CAMPBELL Travel 2 Carnival Cruise Line said Craig Campbell’s application made his “personality shine”. Baillie explained how

the fact Craig works for a tour operator

boosted his chances of being named a Fun Ambassador. “Working with a tour operator selling

to the trade means he gains great insight from all the industry,” Baillie said. Craig said he also has ideas about

how to enhance Loyalty Rocks Club, through which agents communicate with Carnival, claim booking rewards and complete online training. “I am looking forward to being able

to put my ideas forward and helping Carnival make the Loyalty Rocks Club even more agent-friendly,” he said.

LAUREN GLENN USAirtours Lauren Glenn said the combination of working with one of her

favourite cruise lines and meeting like-minded people encouraged her to apply. She said: “I have been selling

Carnival Cruise Lines for a number of years and have always enjoyed selling their product as they are brilliant at what they do. “I was also interested in meeting like-minded people to share this experience with.” Baillie commended Lauren

for how she engaged with Loyalty Rocks Club and for her attendance at Carnival events.

LEIGHANNE DUNKIN Iglu Leighanne Dunkin believes she can be a “voice for agents” across the cruise industry after being named a Carnival Fun Ambassador. “The job had my name written all over it,” she said. “I feel I’ve got a lot

to give to Carnival in terms of being a voice for agents.” Baillie revealed that Leighanne not only had the

credentials to be a Fun Ambassador but was also one of the line’s top-selling agents, making her “invaluable”.
