the Maldives, Villa Hotels & Resorts has built its reputation as a spectacular hotel group surrounded by nature in one of the world’s most sought-after destinations. And now, the property group is undergoing a transformation as it prepares to launch a brand-new concept next month. With the Maldives having become so much more than just a honeymoon destination, Villa Hotels & Resorts has responded with island resorts that cater to couples and families alike. Two of the islands are in or near protected areas, so nature lovers will be in their element, close to some of the most impressive biodiversity in the archipelago.

THREE ISLAND PARADISES

Closest to Malé Airport, in North Malé Atoll, is Paradise Island Resort. True to its name, the resort is a little slice of heaven. Overwater villas and beach bungalows are just some of the accommodation options on offer here. Villa Group’s transformation will see the introduction of beach pool villas and a new infinity pool. Farther north, the Unesco Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll is the home of Royal Island Premium All-Inclusive Resort.

Accommodation comes in the form of laid-back luxury, where villas are private retreats surrounded by nature. Guests can enjoy first-class treatments at the Araamu Spa, the jewel in this property’s crown, under the island’s verdant canopy. The biosphere reserve in this atoll has one of the largest coral reefs in the Indian Ocean – ideal for those who are keen to get a glimpse of life under the surface. Families are welcome in the Maldives, and Sun Island Resort & Spa is the ideal choice for visitors with children or teenagers in tow. Located close to the South Ari Atoll Marine Protected Area, they’ll be able to discover whale sharks and other mesmerising marine life. Beach pool villas are being introduced here as part of the resort’s transformation, while the island’s spa and wellness programme, along with four à la carte restaurants, also make it idyllic for honeymooners. With a major transformation and fresh concept set to be unveiled in February, Villa Hotels & Resorts is embarking on a new chapter.
