IMPRESSIONS: The shop was bright and clean, with smart, uniformed staff, and a small, tidy window display.
SERVICE: I was greeted immediately with a smile and spoke to a friendly agent. I was given two suggestions, plus a third by another staff member who also heard my request. The other agent had visited Borneo and had stayed at the Shangri-La Rasa Ria Resort & Spa. Insurance was included on one of the quotes.
QUOTES: The first quote was a two-week Saga holiday in October 2020, flying from Heathrow with Malaysia Airlines, for the Borneo Rainforest Wildlife Adventure. The escorted tour cost £6,356. I was also quoted £6,498 with travel insurance and additional cancellation rights. The second was a nine-night Kuoni escorted rainforest tour in September 2020, flying from Heathrow, for £5,767. It would be based at the Shangri-La’s where one of the agents had stayed and recommended. The emphasis was more on the luxury of the hotel than seeing wildlife. I was told carbon offsetting was included in the price of the flights.
OVERALL: Both staff members were enthusiastic and contributed to the discussion about the holiday and the area itself. This was a first-class agency that produced a wide range of options and my overall experience was excellent.

IMPRESSIONS: The premises were tidy but a little cramped, and staff were presentable.
SERVICE: I was immediately acknowledged by a friendly agent. They were cheerful and enthusiastic, but I felt that they didn’t know a lot about the experience and destination personally, and they didn’t know about carbon offsetting. I was only offered Titan Travel, although there was a choice of dates with different prices.
QUOTES: Both quotes were for 13-day Wild Borneo escorted tours with Titan Travel, flying from Heathrow with Singapore Airlines. They included accommodation, flights and some meals. The first was in May 2020, for £5,598 and the second was in January 2020, for £5,198. A stopover in Singapore was mentioned but the cost was not available until I had confirmed my main booking. The second holiday was the same but it was cheaper because the probability of rain was higher at that time of year. The agent said that if rain was a concern we would be better to travel in May. It included all the main elements of the Judi Dench programme. I felt we might have been offered some quotes from other operators and the budget could have been used a lot more.
OVERALL: The advisor was pleasant and the quotes satisfactory but I would have preferred more options.
