PLANS FOR MANCHESTER CITY STADIUM HOTEL


Manchester City football club has submitted a planning application to build a 400-bedroom hotel at its Etihad Stadium. The proposal forms part of a


£300m, three-year revamp of the ground to construct a “year- round entertainment and leisure destination”, which could create up to 2,600 jobs. A covered fan zone will have capacity for 3,000 people and feature food and drink outlets, as well as a hotel, club shop and museum. The stadium’s North Stand will be expanded with a larger upper tier to increase capacity to more than 60,000, with a sky bar overlooking the pitch and a stadium roof walk experience. Bryn Williams is set to open the doors of a 28-cover bar near Cardiff in May. Set off the high street in the seaside town of Penarth, the Touring Club will offer plates and snacks alongside a curated drinks menu. The chef also owns Odette’s in


London and Bryn Williams at Porth Erias in North Wales and runs a restaurant at the Cambrian hotel in Switzerland. Dishes will include steamed mussels and cockles from South Wales with wild garlic and local bread; Welsh rarebit on sourdough; and pasta with truffles, while the wine list will feature 10 whites and 10 reds, all offered by the glass, alongside a small selection of spirits and cocktails. Chef Harriet Mansell has announced that 23 September will be “the last night in our current format and home” for her restaurant Robin Wylde in Lyme Regis, Dorset. In October the team will return
