The Insider ANTARCTICA

When to go

While the Antarctica travel season runs throughout the Southern hemisphere’s summer months, from late

October to late March (with Seabourn Pursuit’s Antarctic voyages running from November to February), the time you go within that RGTKQF OCMGU C UKIPKʂECPV difference to what you experience. At the start of the Antarctic tourism season, in November, the summer months have just begun to arrive, with dramatic icescapes, snow covering the landscape and a surge of renewed wildlife activity as adelie, gentoo and chinstrap penguins begin to build their nests. As Antarctica warms up in December, penguin chicks begin to hatch, seal pups are seen on the shores and whale sightings increase. In January, the weather is at its warmest on the Antarctic Peninsula, with increased daylight hours. Penguin chicks are in abundance, with orca and humpback whales also seen more frequently. Whale sightings become even more plentiful in February with sea ice retreating, which allows access to different areas as a result.
