Maldives hotel unveils Blue Mind retreat BodyHoliday Algarve
InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort has partnered with conservation charity The Manta Trust to introduce a wellness package inspired by the Blue Mind Theory. This science-backed principle refers to the positive mental state experienced when near or under water. The package includes overwater meditation, guided seafront yoga sessions, bespoke spa treatments, snorkelling with manta rays and dinner under the stars. Together the treatments and activities are designed to “induce relaxation, support
circadian balance and lower anxiety”. The Manta Trust project manager Meral Hafeez said: “Feeling a sense of awe increases
our sense of wellbeing and makes us feel more connected to the world around us.”

and five dining venues, as well as a large wellness complex with more than 40 treatment rooms, a fitness centre, multiple pools, a Fifa-standard football pitch, and tennis and padel courts. The brand’s signature health and fitness programmes will also be available. To lead the expansion, parent company SunSwept Resorts has appointed a global leadership team. Chief executive Andrew Barnard said: “We’ve always believed that true wellness should feel intuitive, rooted in body awareness rather than routine. It’s about longevity through personalisation, not prescription. Our expansion into Portugal embodies that same philosophy, creating an oasis that invites guests to discover joy, reignite passion and restore balance.”
