FOUR SEASONS RESORT NEVIS Charlestown, Nevis
LOCATION: Set along the unspoiled shores of Pinney’s Beach, Four Seasons Resort Nevis boasts a prime position on St Kitts’ lesser-known sister isle. It’s just a 15-minute transfer from St Kitts airport to Majors Bay, where guests board speedboats for a scenic ride across the two-mile channel to the resort.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: We’re welcomed by an open lobby, ÜhiÀi niÕÌÀ>l Ìonià >n` m>ÀLli yooÀà inh>nVi Ìhi n>ÌÕÀ>l light, rattan armchairs cradle tropical-patterned cushions and a striking stone sculpture commands attention. But it’s not the impeccable design – to be expected at a Four Seasons resort – that leaves me speechless. Beyond the sun-drenched voÞiÀ] > ÃiÀini inwniÌÞ «ool] vÀin}i` LÞ ÃÕnÃhini-ÞilloÜ striped loungers and gently swaying palms, spills into the endless turquoise expanse of the Caribbean Sea. Behind the property, Mount Nevis rises in an undulating sweep of emerald foliage, its peak disappearing into wisps of cloud.
THE FACTS: Four Seasons Resort Nevis has been the island’s only luxury hotel since its debut in 1991, but it isn’t the absence of competition that makes it stand out. The 350-acre property still feels fresh and contemporary following an extensive renovation in October 2019. It features 189 rooms and suites set in two-storey, farmhouse- style cottages, each with a balcony or terrace. However, large groups or clients seeking seclusion may prefer one of the 119 villas, estates and residences, ranging in size vÀom oni Ìo wÛi Li`Àoomà >n` vi>ÌÕÀin} > *ÀiÛ>Ìi ,iÌÀi>Ì Ambassador to arrange excursions, in-villa experiences and private dining. An additional 58 residences are slated to open this year. The resort houses six restaurants and bars, including my personal favourites beachside venue Mango for Caribbean cuisine and Esquilina, which serves a delicious buffet breakfast and Mediterranean dinner menu. EXPLORE: A barefoot stroll along Pinney’s Beach to sample a famed Killer Bee rum punch at Sunshine’s Bar – an island institution that opened alongside the resort – while watching the mesmerising sunset is a must.
WOW: The warmth of hospitality is my favourite thing about visiting the Caribbean – and Four Seasons Resort Nevis is no exception. Every interaction is one of genuine care and heartfelt attentiveness.
