DOMOTEX SHOW TIME

WELCOME If the reviews of the most recent shows, here in Germany and

elsewhere, are anything to go by, this one will be worth the wait. But 2026 promises to stand alone as an exemplar in its own right

Words | Richard Burton, Editor Photography | Domotex

Welcome to the long-awaited 2026 edition. As anyone in the industry knows by now, this month’s fair will be one that packs even more of a punch, thanks to the sheer breadth of its ever-growing off ering. And I say that in the knowledge that the secret of a successful trade show lies often in the way it constantly reinvents itself and moves on, listening to its stakeholders, responding accordingly and working to fulfi ll their needs. And it’s a formula that pays dividends. In that vein, I was interested to hear recently during the pre-show

press conference John Herbert, General Secretary of EDRA, describe trade fairs as the barometer of how a business sector is faring. As someone who spends 20-plus days a year visiting them globally

– “fi rst-in, last out, going down every aisle” - he’s in a strong place to judge, which is why when he said there “should be no company in the world” of any size in the wood fl ooring business that should not be going to Domotex, it resonated strongly. And then there was Volker Konig of the Mega Gruppe making the point that, when formulating New Year

marketing plans, what he called “the fi rst milestone” in terms of feedback is invariably a few valuable January days among the crowds and booth -holders here in Hannover. It was also interesting to note the enthusiasm expressed by all involved for the nightlife aspect and the opportunities to reconnect in convivial surroundings over a drink: real networking in other words. All of which means, there’s a lot going on at DOMOTEX: before, during and after the show and there’s a lot of expertise to back it up, from the line-up of speakers taking to The Stage to the announcement of the Parkett Star Award and the sort of solutions you’re likely to see demonstrated in the FEP Lounge. This issue is designed to give a taste of that. Our show preview pages spell out in more detail what’s in store to give you an idea. There are also contributions from our exhibitors. Check them out here - then pay them a visit in person.
