Personally, I believe there will always be unique and creative ways to improve sustainability by lowering emissions, recycling and upcycling and developing new materials. I’m looking forward to seeing even more sustainable solutions in the future.
DW: The event begins with an award ceremony. So, have any from the past stood out in any way or reappeared as exhibitors? SWC: That’s right, this year the GREEN COLLECTION Award kicks off the award ceremonies. The award will take place for the second time in 2024 and honours sustainable products and production processes as well as particularly committed companies in the fl ooring industry. Last year, Amorim stood out for sure: The cork specialist was the only participant who won not one but two awards. The brand received the awards for its products ‘Go4cork Plus’ and ‘AMORIM WISE cork inspire 700 HRT’. Cork is a rapidly regenerating natural material – it has an insulating eff ect, reduces sound transmission and temperature fl uctuations as well as improving the indoor climate. We are very excited to see Amorim’s latest cork innovations again in January.
DW: Hannover is one of several international events under the DOMOTEX banner. How active are you in these personally? SWC: I work closely with our international colleagues for all events around the globe. The strategies and concepts for the individual trade fairs are always developed and coordinated as a team. If required, my team and I also provide assistance with communication and sales
activities. However, the events are organised
and executed by the
respective teams live on site. They are experts for their regions and know the respective exhibition grounds and locals best. I attend every DOMOTEX abroad – that’s a given! Depending on their availability, I take someone from my team with me, so that they can get to know our colleagues and the events in the respective countries. We are one big team after all.

DW: And given the constant activity, how and when do you relax? SWC: I have a great team which supports me in Hanover. That’s the only way we can put together such a great show. After all, I’m not a one- woman show. I also have excellent teams outside Germany, who are masters of their craft. Despite all the fun I have doing my job, to know I have all those amazing people by my side takes a lot of pressure off me. I can truly count on my team of international experts. No-one can do everything on their own. It takes a skilled team that is just as motivated about the show as I am - and I have just that. The trick is to delegate things in the right way. That way, I get the rest I need - not much, but it’s enough.
