Draw and cut out an equilateral and isosceles triangle. Which one can you then divide into 4 equal triangles?
Quadrilaterals
A quadrilateral is a 4-sided polygon. If you measure its angles and add them all up, you will always get 360°.
Here are a few examples of quadrilaterals.
1. Describe the lines and angles of each of the shapes to the person beside you. Can you name any of the quadrilaterals? Make or draw 4 quadrilaterals of your own.
Can you see a repeated pattern? How would you describe it?
2. Discuss and name all of the shapes you can fi nd on this house. How many shapes have you recorded altogether?
Trapezium
A trapezium is a 4-sided polygon that has exactly 1 pair of parallel sides. The 2 sides that are parallel are called the bases of the trapezium. The sum of the angles of a trapezium is 360°.
Here are a few examples. Try to make or draw some of your own.
