Continuous improvement, innovative ideas and a motivated team ensure supply reliability

Recently appointed Head of Global Supply Chain and Planning, Ursula Thakkar, is confident that her broad experience from companies across several continents, will take her team to the next level of customer service.

The focus of the Infineum Supply Chain and Planning team is to ensure that our commitments to customers are met in a reliable, safe and sustained manner at optimal cost.

I’m confident that my experience in manufacturing, sales and marketing, supply chain and strategic planning, gained in multinational organisations in leadership roles across a variety of cultures, will bring in a fresh perspective to enable an effective mix of internal and external best practice for my team.

Continuous improvement

The Supply Chain and Planning team has many different touch points in the order-to-cash process – each of which must work flawlessly to ensure successful product delivery to the customer. A key to this success is listening to what the customer has to say and translating this input into actionable solutions that deliver reliability, efficiency and cost savings.

Proactively, behind the scenes, we evaluate all opportunities for improvement and implement changes to ensure non-

New supply chain initiatives

The Supply Chain and Planning team is undertaking a number of new initiatives to enhance operational excellence, which include:

• Improving collaboration between our customers, our Sales teams and our Supply Chain colleagues, designed to deliver value added services and drive efficiencies as well as cost savings, to make Infineum the preferred additive supplier.

• Increasing end-to-end visibility through the Sales and Operation Planning process, which will be rolled out across the global organisation. This will deliver a common integrated demand and supply plan with defined performance indicators.

Underpinned by strong values

Clearly technology excellence, reliability and collaboration underpin everything we do within the Infineum Supply Chain.

Of major importance are new technology introductions, product rollovers and forecast collaborations where successful product delivery to the customer is a critical deliverable. The Supply Chain and Planning team is driven to deliver “Performance you can rely on” in everything it does.

“Our entire team works closely with all of our internal and external customers to meet their ongoing business needs.”

In addition, the team is in the process of setting up a supply chain footprint in China, to support the start-up of the new Infineum facility, which is a key deliverable for me. This demands significant effort to ensure we establish a smooth and cost effective distribution network to serve our customers here.

I believe the key to effective supply chain management is to strengthen every single link in our supply chain. The work we are doing with our third party service providers will ensure we have a set of common goals and shared expectations, which is in my view the real spirit of collaboration.

conformance is avoided. In addition to these ongoing internal efforts, we also recognise the importance that our third party service providers play in maintaining and improving our complaint free delivery (CFD) performance.

Moreover, we continue to focus our efforts on the base business activities that will support our customers, such as reviewing and updating our business continuity and supply security plans.

In my view we need the right tools, the right processes and the right people for a successful high performance team. Of those three key focus areas, my priority will be on our greatest asset – our people – because a motivated workforce will always deliver outstanding results. I’m expecting this challenge, of building and motivating a successful team, to be hugely demanding – but at the same time hugely rewarding.
