Export growth fuels another successful year for Morris Lubricants
Britain’s leading family-owned, independent oil blenders and marketers, Morris Lubricants, is optimistic about business prospects in 2015 after reporting a 20 per cent increase in exports in the past year.
The long established Shrewsbury-based company, which employs 140 people, has plans to expand its exports even further as it breaks into new markets around the globe. The company secured new customers in Portugal, Italy, Slovenia and Angola during 2014 and sees huge potential to develop these and other emerging markets.
“It has been another very successful year for the company and our overseas distributors are doing a fantastic job,” said Managing Director Andrew Goddard. “We have also managed to secure several significant orders in the UK.
“I firmly believe that exports and innovation will continue to be the drivers behind our company’s growth. Exports account for 20 per cent of our turnover and we have plans to further grow international sales during 2015.”
In addition to providing a quality service to 4,000 UK customers, Morris Lubricants exports its wide range of Union Jack branded lubricants to around 80 territories worldwide, including Australasia, Eastern Europe, South America and the Middle East. The main export customers are in New Zealand, Australia, Pakistan and Iraq.
Mr Goddard revealed that 2015 will see the company focus on promoting heavy duty lubricants for the commercial vehicle market, which will be rebranded under the Versimax banner. Helping to promote
the new brand through an enhanced sponsorship package will be Dave Jenkins, the 2011 British Truck Racing Association Champion.
The Versimax range of products will be officially launched at the Commercial Vehicle Show at the NEC, Birmingham from 14-16 April.
“Our aim is to simplify the branding and naming structure for our heavy duty lubricants range to make it more easily recognisable,” explained Mr Goddard. “We think the sponsorship of Dave Jenkins will be an excellent tool to promote Versimax.”
Research and development has always been a key driver in the company’s success. A new range of highly developed lubricants for the rapidly emerging gas engine market will be fully launched during 2015 following the completion of successful field trials and the associated approval process.
Morris Lubricants will also be championing its newly developed
www.whatoildoIneed.com online lubricant finder. The website is designed to inform customers exactly which Morris Lubricants product to use in a vehicle or industrial machinery at a click of a button.
The service is used extensively by a variety of customers, such as independent garages and motor factors, across the country, but Morris Lubricants wants to expand adoption into other sectors such industrial and the general wider public.
“Existing survey data suggests that around 50 per cent of drivers have no idea which oil to put in their car.
We believe this figure to be much higher and will be conducting our own research throughout the coming year to validate this,” said Mr Goddard. “This new tool is the first stage in helping individuals select the correct oil for their vehicle.”
Mr Goddard, however, remained tight- lipped about up and coming motorsport sponsorship arrangements. Building upon the success within the World Rally Championship and British Touring Car Championship during 2014, Mr Goddard added: “We have learnt a lot this year and aim to push forward with a programme that sees the Morris Lubricants brand in an elite competitive environment.”
Morris Lubricants sells more than 800 product lines, including the latest auto and motorcycle lubricants technology for modern engine and transmission designs, as well as tailored grades for the traditional classic, veteran and vintage vehicle market.
Industrial metalworking fluids, specialist production lubricants and biodegradable lubricants complete a product portfolio to fulfil the needs of automotive, industrial manufacturing, agriculture, horticulture and forestry.
The company produces lubricants that are capable of operating in the most extreme climates, ranging from the Arctic Circle to the searing heat of the Australian Outback.
