Of the estimated demand for 100-150 kilotonnes of food-grade lubricants over the course of 2020, Europe (mainly the European Union and the UK) is believed to have comprised the highest share. This is because Europe is the home to some of the world’s leading food and beverage manufacturing companies, as well as has one of the largest personal care industries (which also requires substances that are safe for incidental contact due to the manufacture of skin creams, hair products and other such substances which come into direct contact with human users).


Europe is followed by the United States, followed by Japan and South Korea.

Meanwhile, the US and Japan are set to contribute the greatest overall volume increase in demand for FGLs.
