IN BRIEF
01 Can you give us an overview of Cappelen
Damm at the moment: how are the publishing and retail sides faring? And how is Storytel doing? In a stagnant book market, we are experiencing great progress for our fiction, non-fiction and children’s book list. It is also grati- fying that the publishing house has quickly been able to adapt to the audience’s changes in reading habits—towards more audiobook consumption—and to schools’ need for a wider range of digital teach- ing materials. Our collaboration with Storytel,
which is now clearly the leading audiobook streaming service in Norway, has of course played an important role in this transforma- tion. In the future, Cappelen Damm Audio hopes to establish similar collaboration with other Norwegian digital product sales channels.
02 What is the overall strategy for Cappelen
Damm going forward? Cappelen Damm’s most important asset will always be our authors and international publishing partners. Taking care of and developing these creative networks, and at the same time adapting and optimising the management of our author’s rights in a changing market, is our main task and objective. Our strategy is therefore to do everything we possibly can to strengthen our position as Norway’s largest and most vital publisher of stories and educational material in all genres and formats.
