Te ninth edition of FutureBook Live conference, Europe’s biggest publishing innovation event, will take place on 30th November at 155 Bishopsgate, east London, with today’s annual FBF taster event seting the tone for what’s in store. It will be a time of high excitement for the trade’s forward-thinking and savvy businesses and individuals, with the announcement of the FutureBook Live Awards shortlists. The five gongs are: FutureBook Person of the Year, FutureBook of the Year, Campaign of the Year, BookTech Start-up of the Year and, new for 2018, the Podcast of the Year. Prior to the announcement of the shortlists, The Bookseller editor

Philip Jones will interview Pan Macmillan boss Anthony Forbes Watson above. The publishing house may be 175 years old (see right) but it is on the cuting edge, with recent initiatives including its partnering with digital talent agency Instrumental to find “tech stars” and its campaign to award innovation in indie bookshops.
