HarperCollins imprint Avon Books has made some key changes to its editorial team following publishing director Helen Huthwaite’s maternity leave this October. Commissioning editor Rachel Faulkner-Willcocks above left has been promoted to senior commissioning editor, editor Phoebe Morgan centre has been promoted to commissioning editor and Victoria Oundjian right joined the team as editor earlier this year.


At HarperCollins, The Borough Press has appointed Carla Josephson as commissioning editor, succeeding Holly Ainley, who will leave HarperCollins in December.


Samantha Burridge has been appointed director of strategy and transformation of the Scientific & Academic Research division at Clarivate Analytics.


Alexandra McNicoll, currently joint head of translation rights at C+W, is joining A M Heath as director of foreign rights from 3rd January. Jennifer Custer, who has been with A M Heath for 14 years–10 as director of foreign rights–is leaving “to pursue a long-held dream” to walk the 3,500k Appalachian Trail.


Following the departure of Mizzi Van Der Pluijm, Chris Herschdorfer has been appointed publishing director of Atlas Contact, effective immediately. Atlas Contact is part of the Dutch publishing Group VBK.

Our Group Contracts team is currently looking for a Senior Contracts Executive to join for a 12-month fixed term contract as part of a maternity cover.


The Penguin Random House Contracts team is an integral part of the business and is responsible for the preparation and negotiation of all publishing agreements across the business as well as administering a variety of permission requests, and this is a key position that ensures the team runs smoothly.


You will draft and negotiate head contracts, boilerplates and any applicable precedents or company policies for your area of the business. Additionally you will be expected to negotiate, check and amend subsidiary rights agreements.


Excellent communication skills and familiarity working with a variety of people is essential as you’ll work closely with authors and agents, as well as colleagues across the business, such as advising Editorial on ad hoc contractual queries and supporting the Rights team by negotiating translation agreements.
