3 EDITOR’S COMMENT
HANG TOUGH
ow are you holding up? With the Covid rollercoaster at full speed once again and the current lockdown set to continue until at least the middle of the month, you’d be forgiven for feeling rather bewildered and uncertain. Feedback from our kbbreview100 retailers on lockdown part three (pgs 4-5) suggests that, while the majority are adapting in line with the latest restrictions and ploughing on with virtual appointments, many are understandably con - cerned about the impact it will have on future
orders and installations. Hang in there, though – we’ll get through this. For more up-to-date news, comment and opinion on Covid and all industry-related topics visit
kbbreview.com – you can even sign up to receive our regular weekly newsletters so you don’t miss a thing. On a brighter note, at least our deal or no-deal Brexit saga is now
over, thanks to a last-minute trade deal with the EU. Although this has put many concerns to rest, there is still an air of uncertainty as to what it all means for retailers and the wider industry. Our special focus (pgs 26-32) however, should tell you everything you need to know about how it will affect your business. Elsewhere in the issue, we have an exclusive interview with Chris
Honer, the MD and owner of Staffordshire-based, ‘Big Brand’ distributor Swift (pgs 20-22). Two years on since the acquisition and Honer lays out his ambitious fi ve-year strategy for the business. With new energy ratings and labels for major appliances coming in next month, we’ve asked Paul Hide, chief executive of the Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances (Amdea), to help you understand the changes and how to explain them to your customers (pgs 24-25). And don’t forget that entries to the kbbreview Retail & Design Awards
close on February 18. It’s free to enter and there are categories that reward specifi c design projects and retail excellence and they are open to ANY retailers and designers operating in the sector. So, if you haven’t already entered, what are you waiting for?
