Porcelanosa, Chester
A classy mix of monochrome with earthy tones define the design of this showroom from the Spanish brand, where a fully working smart kitchen is one of the main stars Words: Fran Seden

ituated just outside the town, Porcelanosa in Chester has been designed to be a centre of inspiration and innovation. It features realistic, true-to-life displays and true proportions, and a mix of natural and artificial lighting, to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The ceiling and the main showroom lighting take a back seat – simply painted black with LED spotlights to let the displays shine. “We have also ensured the layout is open and easy to navigate with clear pathways
and distinct areas for different styles or room types,” Porcelanosa UK marketing manager, Teresa Roldán Vega, explains. “In terms of the decoration of the showroom itself, we have used earthy tones that reflect our brand and complements the furniture.” The space was designed by the Porcelanosa projects department in Spain, and took
nine months to complete, Vega says. She adds that this design follows a “premium model and will be implemented in future Porcelanosa stores”. Walking into the showroom, visitors are met by a working kitchen display on the right, and a tranquil white bathroom display to the left. These are the first two of more than 40 displays in the 1000 square metre space, and they help set the tone for what is to come. A little further along is the striking, and fully operational, smart kitchen which features a
cooking surface embedded in the XTone solid surface waterfall worktop. It also houses a number of invisible charging points within. This is just one of the elements in the showroom which helps set it apart from local competition. Another point of difference is the 130 square-metre technical work area featuring a
huge range of different materials with which customers can interact and get a feel for. In addition to this are two tap walls, which show the extensive collection of Noken brassware available in the store. Finally, one of the last things that stands out about the new Porcelanosa showroom, is
the attention to detail when it comes to the dressing and finishing touches. This is one of the hallmarks of great showroom design and Vega explains its importance. “The accessories are what really brings the showroom to life and they really help consumers envisage how the display could look in their own home.”
