We caught up with Phil Martin, founder at Shelf & Rail Co, to fi nd out what exactly sets his innovative new product apart from the rest of the market
Where did the idea for Shelf & Rail Co come from? I’ve got over 35 years’ experience in the newbuild industry, and wanted to design a wardrobe profile that would make installations quick and easy. Using my industry knowledge, I’ve created a system that is ideal for repetitive installations, but also favours DIY and online retailers.
What can you tell me about Shelf & Rail Co and its products? The Nero range comes in either bulk for the contracting market or in single kits, for the DIYer/online retailer. Our products include a Base Kit, Extension Kit and Shelf Kits. Each kit includes all of the fixings required, even down to the screwdriver tip! We have also designed an Angled Ceiling Bracket which fits easily into the profile, to tackle angled ceiling problems.

What sets Shelf & Rail Co apart from other companies? Basically, it’s one profile, that is the stanchion, hanger bar, wall

Where can you see Shelf & Rail Co products being most impactful? Having two routes to market, its going to be interesting to see which one takes the lead. I believe that online retailers have a great opportunity with it, as its pre-packed and designed to be robust in transit. We are hoping to see this get into the construction market with newbuilds, hotels and student accommodation, however, this will take a little longer
to establish, and we hope to get the product specified, as soon as we can. We also offer a bespoke package for anyone needing larger quantities.
Are Shelf & Rail Co products on the market now? Indeed, they are, both in bulk and in kit form. We are ready to hear from potential stockists and installers. We have several partners in place already, but we would like to hear from more. We are more than happy to send out sample packs and answer any questions, or make introductions personally.
