Bath vs showers: which is more popular in the UK?
NINETY-FIVE per cent of people in UK towns and cities prefer baths over showers, according to recent data by QS Supplies. In an investigation that spanned several countries, QS found that only three towns in the UK – Mansfield, Poole and High Wycombe – preferred showers over baths. QS Supplies said: “We found that the world overwhelmingly prefers baths to showers. The shower is closer to a chore, a daily necessity, while a soak in the tub is a relaxing treat. Still, preferences differ from city to city, state to state.” The bathroom retailer analysed data from Twitter to see who was tweeting the most about either baths or showers in the UK, Canada, Australia and the USA. Speaking on the methodology, QS Supplies said: “QS Supplies analysed thousands of geotagged, bathroom-themed tweets using the SentiStrength sentiment analysis tool. We identified which tweets
were overall more positive or negative towards the bath, and did the same for the shower. Then we added up our findings and declared the places with more overall positivity towards baths to be pro-bath provinces, and those who tweeted more positively about the shower to be pro-shower.” In the USA, the majority of states preferred baths with only 12% preferring showers. Three states in the north-east preferred showers – New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Maine. Others that liked showers more were Alabama, North Dakota and Idaho. However, for the USA cities there was not quite as much of a divide, with a 34% preference for showers. There was no geographical divide as to where the preference of bath or showers in the USA cities lies, with those who love showers dotted around the different coasts and central America. Out of 46 cities in Canada, 33% preferred a bath to showers. The largest – Montréal, Vancouver, and
Toronto – all preferred taking baths.
In Australia, 28% of people in major cities preferred showers to baths, with the majority preferring baths. While smaller cities such as Cairns, Toowoomba, Newcastle and Ballarat, preferred showers.

Beko introduces 10-year parts warranty
APPLIANCE GIANT Beko has announced that it is now offering a 10-year parts guarantee to help give consumers peace of mind and encourage repairs rather than repurchasing. Consumers are now able to register selected Beko appliances for the new 10-year parts guarantee in addition to any one- or two-year labour guarantees their products are eligible for.
Beko says this reflects the confidence it has in the durability and quality of its appliances and that this will bring consumers added peace of mind when purchasing home appliances.
And in light of recently introduced Right to Repair laws in the EU, which we have also adopted in the UK, this move from Beko gives customers access to free parts to repair registered products. This, it says, will help minimise appliance waste and encourage owners to repair their existing appliance rather than buy a new one or potentially

scrap the old product entirely. To help support the new warranty offer, Beko has unveiled a new product registration page on its website, which will also help consumers identify which guarantee they are eligible for.
Retailers will have access to POS and marketing materials to help promote the new 10-year parts guarantee, while Beko says it will promote the guarantee through social media, targeted email marketing and a media campaign. Commenting on the company’s new 10-year guarantee, Vijay Bhardwaj, marketing director for Beko UK and Ireland, said: “We’re incredibly proud to launch our 10 Year Parts Guarantee. At a time where the cost of living continues to rise, we are delighted to be able to provide such a strong parts guarantee to our consumers, creating increased consumer confidence in quality and durability of Beko appliances.”

Company earlier. They are a pleasure to deal with and removed all the aggravation that comes with selling displays. We will certainly be using them again and could not recommend their service highly enough.” The Used Kitchen Company says it has saved nearly 30,000 tonnes of waste from going to landfill since it was set up in 2005.
TUKC founder Looeeze Grossman said: “As a sustainable business, we’re always delighted when a retailer partners with us to sell their ex-display and clients’ kitchens. Our customers are always delighted to find not only a real bargain, but a high-quality design for their home. We are so incredibly proud of the partnership with Symphony and what it has achieved in its first year. Congratulations to Andrew Elden Designs, they’re such a deserving winner.”
