Imperial Bathrooms celebrates 40 years as an independent British heritage brand

Celebrating 40 years of trading in 2026, Neil Gore, managing director at Imperial Bathrooms, refl ects on the company’s rich history, as well as what’s next in the pipeline for the long-standing British brand.

Q&A

For anyone that doesn’t know, what’s the history behind Imperial bathrooms? For four decades, Imperial

Bathrooms has

continued to carve a niche within the traditional bathroom sector, supplying designers with individually handcrafted Imperial ceramicware, furniture, brassware, and bathroom accessories. A proud British-owned family business with an authentic origin story, since its founding in 1986, Imperial Bathrooms has been an advocate of time-honoured

techniques passed down by

generations so that we can consciously support highly skilled trades and continue to bring their hand-made designs to the mass market. The original

factory based in the West Midlands

was founded as the original manufacturer could not deliver the designs at the quality levels that were expected by its customers. From the outset, Imperial not only supplied its own brand but also supplied many other brands around the world with their own branded products – as the reputation for quality and glaze quality was world renowned.

What can you tell me about how the company is run today? Imperial Bathrooms is now operated by three directors, who share a combined experience of 94 years with the brand. Following a brief hiatus, I returned as managing director in 2023 and I am joined by fellow directors James Stevenson (the son of the late founder Geoffrey Stevenson), and Robin Wright (who joined the company as its first

employee in 1986), and together we continue to solidify future business operations and drive the business into new markets and distribution partners. People who sell Imperial are part of the Imperial family as many of them have been aware of our products for many years and often the reputation has come from their parents, if not grandparents. This support ensures that the Imperial brand continues to survive and grow.

Are there any new product highlights from the last couple of years?

In 2025 alone, Imperial Bathrooms introduced

a series of new product ranges for the classic bathroom with standout collections

including

the Regent Ceramic Collection, Radcliffe Fradley Furniture Collection, Carlyon Bay Furniture Collection, and the new Lichfield Collection. We also launched the whole collection in multiple plated finishes – Antique Gold, Polished Nickel, Brushed Brass and Brushed Nickel. The popularity of Regent stems from its subtle design traits, which work in both classic and contemporary bathroom environments. Catering to any size and style, Regent offers a broad range of large and small basins, stands and consoles, and complementary furniture solutions. However, It’s our fully skirted back to wall close coupled pan and rimless back to wall pan that continue to define this collection and yields hugely positive results for retailers. In equal measure, our Carlyon Collection continues to carry favour in the market, bolstered by our new Cambridge brassware and Lichfield Shower collection to once again further our design capacity.

What about this year? What’s on the horizon in terms of product development? As we move into 2026, the landscape of innovation for Imperial Bathrooms is rapidly evolving with new developments in ceramicware and real wood furniture in production and ready to be rolled out during the second half of the year. Also we’re launching new seat toilet seat hinge technology, and new ranges of brassware and showers that are currently going through WRAS approval.

There will always be a place in the hearts of UK

homeowners for traditional bathroom products
