New Generation AW169 Full-Scale Production Underway
Finmeccanica – AgustaWestland recently announced that the new generation AW169 light intermediate
4.5-tonne
class helicopter has entered full-scale production, with the fi rst aircraft now on the fi nal assembly line at its Vergiate facility in Italy. The event marks a major milestone ahead of EASA certifi cation, with deliveries to the fi rst batch of customers set to start in the second quarter of 2015. The AW169 is the fi rst all-new aircraft in its weight category to enter the market in nearly 40 years.
The AW169 fl ight test program, utilizing four prototypes, has so far amassed over 1,200 fl ying hours during fl ight testing in Italy, the U.K., and the U.S. The second AW169 fi nal assembly line is planned at AgustaWestland’s Philadelphia plant in the U.S., while AgustaWestland’s Yeovil plant in the U.K. is already playing a key role in the production of rotor blades and tail rotor transmission system. in its large, unobstructed
cabin, fi tted with a range of customized equipment and entertainment systems. The powerplant features an auxiliary power unit (APU) mode ensuring the continued operation
of the environmental control
system, radios, and medical equipment when the rotors are stopped. The AW169’s avionic suite introduces state-of-the-art technology including a full digital NVG- compatible cockpit with touch-screen technology.

Aircraft Overseas Supplier Conference. Previously, Becker Avionics was a bronze level supplier for Xi’an Aircraft. Due to close collaboration and excellent ratings in customer service over the last two years, Becker Avionics achieved a superior Silver Medal Supplier ranking for 2014.
Becker Avionics has worked closely with Xi’an Aircraft on their MA series aircraft audio systems for over 30 years. The company has produced analog audio systems for over 100 MA 60 aircraft sold for the China, South Asian, and African commercial aviation markets. Becker also provides their advanced DVCS6100 digital audio system for the newer MA 600 aircraft. Both aircraft types are fully certifi ed by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) Airworthiness Offi ce. Becker’s long relationship with Xi’an also benefi ts from a liaison offi ce in Beijing, specifi cally focused on the Chinese aviation market.
