Binding Site


The Hevylite assay works by targeting epitopes between the heavy chain and light chain constant regions.


Hevylite enables individual identification and quantification of different light chain isotypes of each immunoglobulin class i.e. IgG, IgG, IgA, IgA, IgM and IgM.


The molecules are assessed in pairs to produce heavy+light chain isotype (HLC) ratios (e.g. IgG/IgGor dHLC (e.g. IgG-IgG


Hevylite offers a number of benefits over traditional electrophoresis methods like SPE (serum protein electrophoresis) and IFE (immunofixation electrophoresis).


• Hevylite is a rapid quantitative method and avoids the subjectivity of interpreting SPE and IFE gels


• It overcomes issues like co-migration, diffuse bands, dye saturation and non-linearity of gel bands • Hevylite is more sensitive especially <10 g/L


Use Hevylite: • At diagnosis to provide a baseline value that is useful in monitoring and prognosis


• When monitoring Intact Immunoglobulin multiple myeloma patients with monoclonal proteins that are difficult to quantify by electrophoresis


• For monitoring Oligosecretory myeloma and low levels of monoclonal protein (<10g/L)


• To identify residual disease and provide earlier identification of relapse


• Alongside Freelite for optimal monitoring
