The Crigglestone and Castle Nursery Schools, Wakefield

What activities did you use the product for? Initially the children enjoyed taking the blocks apart and re fitting them into place in size order. Later they laid the different shaped pieces in lines on the floor and some stacked them upright balancing them in size order. Some children began to combine different pieces to create new structures and placed wooden figures around and inside the enclosures they had made.

Did the children enjoy using the product? Yes, the product was popular with the children. They enjoyed the tactile benefits of the smooth wood and were clearly attracted by the colours. The children displayed satisfaction as they took the blocks apart and then successfully put them back together, they enjoyed using both hands to try to lift the stacked blocks as a ‘whole shape’

£84.95 New catalogue product for 2020

Would you recommend the product to other nurseries? Yes, the product could be used for lots of different teaching and learning opportunities. It worked well on its own in self initiated activities and when combined with other moveable parts within our construction area. It was used in discreet teaching groups with figures/small animals as the children were challenged to respond to and use positional/ shape/size language.

How would you rate the product out of 10? Unaware of the price of the product, but staff felt without that information we’d rate them 10/10
