The 360PRO solution offers more than just a set of machines. It integrates everything from the selection of appropriate laundry equipment to the service and maintenance that ensures machines run smoothly. Through Miele’s digital solutions, the system enables real-time monitoring of machine usage and performance, further improving operational efficiency. One of the key benefits of this collaboration is the significant improvement in first-time fix rates for laundry machines. Since the implementation of the 360PRO solution, OSJCT has seen a remarkable increase in the first-time fix rate to over 92 per cent. This is a crucial metric, as it means that most issues are resolved quickly and efficiently, without the need for repeated visits from engineers or prolonged downtime.
Cost savings and operational efficiency In addition to enhancing machine reliability, the partnership with Miele has brought about considerable financial benefits for OSJCT. Nicola Whittaker, national account manager at Miele Professional, explained: “Within one year, we helped The Order of St John save over 10 times what they projected, thanks to the reduction of breakdowns in their laundry machines. This means they can now forecast their budget for the foreseeable based on the cost of Miele washers and dryers.”
The ability to centralise laundry services under one contract and work with a single supplier has also simplified the process for OSJCT. Whittaker noted that the collaboration allowed OSJCT to streamline the range of laundry equipment used across their sites. “This is beneficial for several reasons,” she added. “Not only does it allow staff to become more familiar with
equipment when moving across the Trust, but it also speeds up the replacement of distress purchases, while allowing the Miele Professional service team and partners to carry more of the correct parts.” This reduction in operational complexity has also improved staff efficiency, staff are no longer overwhelmed by the management of multiple service contracts or troubleshooting equipment issues. Instead, they can focus their energy on the needs of residents, enhancing the overall quality of life for those in their care.
Enhanced transparency and long-term success The partnership between Miele Professional and OSJCT has provided more than just operational and financial benefits – it
has also improved transparency and accountability. OSJCT now has a clearer understanding of the costs and usage of laundry equipment, allowing them to better manage their resources and plan for future needs.
With the ongoing success of this partnership, OSJCT has already seen positive results that extend beyond its existing locations. As the Trust continues to expand and open new care homes, the streamlined laundry services strategy will be implemented across all new sites. The Trust’s proactive approach in adapting to new technologies and solutions ensures that it remains a leader in the care home sector, dedicated to delivering exceptional care and service to its residents, now and in the future.
