Digitisation

Navigating a shift in ways of working To truly harness the power of innovation, it is essential that our colleagues feel confident and supported in using these new tools. Digital technology should support and improve the delivery of care, not end up being a roadblock. To help our teams navigate this ‘digital shift’, we have focused on providing immersive training that makes it easier to adopt and get to grips with new systems. These tools are now helping us manage care planning and a few other previously paper-based processes within our homes. We also need to ensure that our care teams understand the reason behind the changes being made. Despite their limitations, paper-based care plans have been a practice cemented into the fabric of all care homes, and it is an important step to explain the rationale behind the change as well as help our colleagues understand the benefits while they adapt to the new technology.

By listening to colleagues, focusing

on practical solutions, and prioritising purpose-built technology, we are ensuring that we lead the way in creating

a modern, digitally enabled environment where our colleagues can focus on the delivery of kind care. As we continue to embrace these changes, we remain committed to ensuring that our colleagues feel supported and equipped to meet the evolving needs of our digital age, which can empower every resident to lead their best life.

Throughout our digital transformation

journey, the foundational methodology of listening, supporting, and empowering colleagues has remained at the heart of every step of the process. Whether it is ensuring that the elementary aspects of a home’s digital infrastructures are functioning properly or implementing purpose-built technologies, the focus should always be on how it will impact the dynamic in the home and how seamless can we make the transition.

Care homes can and should be at the forefront of digital transformation, and by reminding ourselves that our efforts are for the benefit of our colleagues on the front line and the individuals we care for, every provider can start from a position of strength and will likely follow the path to a successful implementation.
