Wigan home approaches autumn completion

Millennium Care’s 52-bed Langtree Care Home in Wigan is on track for completion in the autumn.

Family-run, award-winning Millennium Care currently has five homes across Greater Manchester and Lancashire. Completion of Langtree Care Home will finalise the Standish Care Village, an innovative care community catering for respite, residential, nursing, dementia and EMI care, which will enable residents to stay in the same familiar setting as their needs change. Currently, the site has two operating care homes – Worthington Lake Care Home, which provides dementia care, and Lakeside Care Home, which provides nursing care. Langtree Care Home has been designed by Alessandro Caruso Architects, which specialises in healthcare builds which aim to improve quality of life.

Founder Alessandro Caruso said: “Empathic design is at the heart of every decision taken to enhance the well-being

and quality of life for the residents of this new care home. It’s been a great journey to share our specialist knowledge with the team at Millennium Care and learn from so much feedback relatable to existing residents’ experiences to design a holistic new experience for people suffering from dementia.

“The proposed new care home will provide an environment that can: alleviate stress and simplify residents’ movement; provide a choice of rooms and landscaped sensory gardens; maximise exposure to natural light to improve residents’ mood and circadian rhythms.” Stacey Astin, regional manager at Millennium Care, commented: “As Langtree nears completion, we’re so excited to provide an extra level of care to those in our local community. The need for EMI care is growing and Langtree will help meet that need which is only going to increase. “Having three differing homes at the Standish Care Village will provide residents and their families the peace of mind we all want when thinking about our loved ones. “Langtree, as well as Worthington Lake, is purpose-built to provide the best level of care. Both taking on board the latest research in dementia design while utilising our exceptional location by harnessing nature; a key part of Millennium’s non-pharmacological approach to care.”

Danforth Care opens third Lancashire home

Danforth Care has opened Meadow Croft, the provider’s third Lancashire care home to open in the last 12 months.

With Rossendale House and Pear Tree House already open, the grand opening for Meadow Croft took place on 1 March. The new home, which will accommodate 66 residents, boasts a hair salon, café, library, sweet shop, and cinema. Built by LNT, the care home also has landscaped gardens and underfloor heating. Every room features an en suite wet room and mini fridge. Residents can enjoy restaurant quality meals cooked daily by Meadow Croft’s chef and team, and a personalised activity schedule.

Home manager Diane Langford said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have Meadow Croft House officially open in Garstang, Lancashire.

It was a pleasure showing off this fabulous new care home, and we can’t wait to serve the wonderful community here in the village. “Like all Danforth’s homes, Meadow Croft

is A rated for energy and will operate without gas, going pure electric to be as ecofriendly as possible. An underground energy system running miles below the care home will heat the home’s hot water, provide underfloor heating and air cooling for the residents as an added bonus. With 80 per cent of the available roof space lined with solar panels, the home will be making its own electricity, and selling what it doesn’t need back to the grid. “We are incredibly proud of all the work done to ensure this care home will be a happy, ecofriendly place to live for decades to come. We care deeply not just about our residents and staff, but about our planet as well.”

Bedford home set for spring opening

Bentley Grange, a £13m care home in Biddenham, Bedford, is on track for its official opening this spring. The 60-bed home, which will offer personalised residential, dementia, and nursing care, is the latest addition to the Maria Mallaband Care Group (MMCG) portfolio of more than 80 care homes across the UK. Bentley Grange boasts a hair and beauty salon, cinema room, wellness suite, private dining, and leisure suite as well as a grandchildren’s room, where families with younger children can meet and enjoy time together. Seeking to become a valued part of the local community, the team at Bentley Grange have already engaged with local charities, and will be taking part in this year’s Biddenham Village Festival. Michael Zinaka, commissioning manager at Bentley Grange, said: “This is such an exciting time for all of us at MMCG, especially the new team who will take this home forward; we cannot wait to share this exceptional home with the Biddenham community.

“For those moving in, it will be the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Bentley has first-class care at its heart, but our ambition goes way beyond that. We want to create a vibrant happy community where people feel they belong, be themselves and continue to love life and live it to the fullest.” Ben Maynard, community relations manager at Bentley Grange, added: “I’m happy to say we’ve received the warmest of welcomes and a huge amount of interest already. This will be an exceptional place to live and work and we are so excited to see it come to life and become an integral and valued part of this fantastic community.”
