INTEGRATED THEATRES
Delivering world class operating theatres
Operating theatres are the beating heart of hospitals and are increasingly at the heart of the products and services provided by Bender UK.
The foundation of Bender’s business has long been the medical IT/isolated power supply systems and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) for Group 2 areas protecting patients and hospital staff from the risk of loss of power, electrical failure or shock. Bender UK set the standard for power safety for critical areas and has since helped to shape progressive improvements in industry standards. Now more than 500 hospitals in the UK and the Republic of Ireland have its technology installed. In the same way, the company is aiming to shape the performance of technology within operating theatres through a range of products that includes operating lights from Merivaara, hygienic touch screen theatre control panels (TCP) paired with x-ray viewers and PACS screens, a new range of Contempo services pendants, and hi-tech Merivaara operating tables. The range of complementary healthcare products and services come together within a turnkey operating theatre refurbishment and new- build service that aims to help shape the design of the theatre - and includes supply, commissioning, and in-service lifetime support.
Operating theatre demonstration room
Bender UK has invested in a dedicated operating theatre display area at its Ulverston head office in Cumbria, offering a training and demonstration base for customers, where visiting clinicians and facilities management specialists can test equipment and systems in operation.
The demonstration room is a way of showcasing the range of theatre and clinical equipment. The room is connected to a plant room with medical IT power systems (IPS) and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to

High specification equipment on display in the showroom includes Merivaara Q-Flow lights and a HD camera; new Contempo clinical pendants designed to deliver safe power, medical gases and data; touch screen theatre control panels with 42” PACS screens, vertical and horizonal aluminium bedhead trunking, AV and video routing system from Jones AV and multiple display screens and monitors from Barco. ATICS automatic changeover technology works, alongside UPS battery backup. “The showroom incorporates the latest technology equipment; it will inform prospective customers from across the UK and Ireland, and we are also using the facility to train and develop our own staff. “Many of our customers want to reduce their supply chains and work with more turnkey integrated solutions. Power safety and resilience
Electrical safety and resilience through the provision and support of medical IT power systems and UPS backup power is still the touchstone for many hospitals and Trusts. More than 500 UK and ROI hospitals have
