NICE’s role in the health and care system
Our mission is to help practitioners and commissioners get the best care to patients, fast, while ensuring value for the taxpayer. We do this by assessing the clinical and cost effectiveness of health technologies, diagnostics and treatments. We also produce guidance, based on the best available evidence, to improve health and social care.
Advisory service for international HTAs In the 25 years since our inception, we’ve earned a global reputation for our role in health technology assessment. This is in part through the work of NICE
International, which provides an advisory service for health organisations internationally, ministries and governments. Through NICE International we can provide
support through sharing best practice and expertise. We offer support in the development and advancement of local health technology assessment and guideline programmes. And we support organisations to allocate limited healthcare resources through embedding health technology assessment (HTA) and health technology management. We work with health organisations in the UK and around the world and have delivered over 200 engagements in 50 countries. Many of our engagements come from established links with other organisations such as the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, the UK Department for Business and Trade, and British embassies abroad. Advice for companies seeking to enter the NHS market NICE Advice is our advisory service for pharmaceutical and healthtech companies seeking to enter the NHS market, and supporting organisations who fund or generate evidence for health technologies. The service consolidates our offer to industry –
offering a much easier route to access our services, with the introduction of new products such as 1-hour surgery meetings. Through NICE Advice, we can help you prepare
