Government commitment The government’s unwavering commitment is to support the growth of Northern Ireland’s life and health sciences sector. As part of a substantial £1.3bn government investment package, over £150m will be invested in Northern Ireland through City and Growth Deals to advance health technology, clinical trials, data analytics, and medical devices. This investment aims to support international innovation hubs and facilitate collaborations between businesses within and outside Northern Ireland. The goal is to take advantage of the region’s educational institutions’ expertise and develop state-of-the-art technologies, products, and services. The Health Innovation Research Alliance Northern Ireland (HIRANI) also provides strategic direction and unified sector representation, showcasing Northern Ireland’s expertise and the government’s secure and confident commitment to the sector’s future.

key priority sector for the GCC countries. Northern Ireland’s life and health sciences sector priorities align well with the GCC’s transformation vision. Invest Northern Ireland has been actively present in the GCC for 30 years, facilitating bilateral trade, investment, academic and research links between the two regions. This includes organising trade missions, providing market intelligence, and supporting business partnerships.
