Who and what to see in Manchester INSTITUTE NEWS

Drawing on exhibitors’ Twitter feeds, Healthcare Estates 2019 Event Director, Steve Webb, focuses on some of the offers, attractions, and incentives, as well as some of the more light-hearted features, on the exhibition floor in Manchester this year.

He says: “Roth UK (@uk_Roth) will be running a prize draw for attendees; visit the company on stand B54 to guess the number of safety clips in a jar for a chance of winning a kayak. Vanguard Healthcare Solutions (@VanguardHS) will once again have its mobile unit in the show, and will be showcasing its mobile CSSD unit; book your free tour at: http://ow.ly/nTJ550w6B8L “The Hulley & Kirkwood Team (@HulleyKirkwood) is looking forward to exhibiting @HCEstates for the first time. Visit the company on stand F43 to win prizes and scoop confectionery. Pennington Choices (@PenningtonCh), meanwhile, says it is excited to be exhibiting and speaking at this year’s IHEEM flagship event, and will be answering visitors’ asbestos, fire safety management, and compliance questions on stand B5; it also promises to unveil ‘something very eye-catching’.

Apprentice Zone

“TroupBywaters+Anders (@TroupBywaters) will, for the third successive year, be running and sponsoring the #ApprenticeZone at Healthcare Estates (@HCEstates @IHEEM Exhibition). For a free consultation and a bit of fun with its interactive table, and to meet the team and a host of expert advisors, just turn up. Gordon Pringle (@Jugtastic67) tells me visitors to the HASL stand, B63, will have the chance to win a Continuous Corrosion Monitor, while STJ Projects, on stand C6, will be building a reception desk, which will be presented to a charity or

9 October will have the chance to win an iPad.

“If you have already registered, seek out the interesting and unusual in the show and tweet about it using our #HCEstates and @HCEstates Twitter handles, and we will ‘like’ and retweet your comments.”

Are you a VIP? VIP meeting area.

company on Day 2. To find out all about ‘VR-EP’, and what it is, meanwhile why not visit the Tarkett VR-EP (@TarkettUK), stand, G55 and book ‘an immersive demonstration’?

“This is just a snapshot of some of the fun and clever incentives from exhibitors this year. As organisers, we are also joining in; 250 visitors will receive a complimentary thermo travel mug and delicious barista coffee for completing the onsite survey, which is sponsored by Authorising Engineer Services. Visit stand H8, complete your questionnaire, and the travel mug and coffee are yours. IHEEM, meanwhile, will have a golf putting competition on its stand, E14. Stand visitors taking part before 12 mid-day on

Steve Webb continues: “VIP attendees – those either employed directly by the NHS or a private medical provider, or members of IHEEM or Architects for Health – have complimentary access to the ‘VIP area’, sponsored by Wandsworth Healthcare. This year Wandsworth will be bringing the famous twists and turns of the Isle of Man TT to the VIP area, on two simulators, which will throw you around the curves, and hurl you along the straights at breakneck speed, without actually risking breaking your neck, You don’t even need to wear a helmet. If you feel competitive there will be two arcade simulators for head-to-head racing, or just see if you can set the best lap time.

The IHEEM Council, in thanking the providers, agreed at a recent meeting to provide matched funding for each grant made available.

Pete Sellars, IHEEM’s CEO, said: “The intention is to provide targeted funding for NHS organisations and Company Affiliates who have already invested in apprentices or are intending to do so in the near future, to seek support to

provide training or development specific to the NHS, over and above normal apprentice training. We hope that other companies and organisations will follow suit, and we will be using this scheme as a pathfinder pilot scheme, and in time plan to provide further matched funding. We would like to see other Company Affiliates join us on this important initiative.”

“While at the show, why not also pay our Healthcare 2020 team a visit on stand H2, and hear about a host of exciting improvements and new initiatives for next year’s Healthcare Estates, which will take place from 6-7 October 2020? We promise further innovations and improvements over the coming months, with a larger exhibition with 250+ companies our new dinner venue at The Principal Manchester, and the opportunity for shortlisted companies for Product of the Year to present in the main theatre on the exhibition floor. Watch out for more announcements on Twitter and the Healthcare Estates website – www.healthcare- esates.com”
