Matt Morse has worked in Legionella control and water treatment for over 20 years, for service-providers and as an independent consultant, and serves part time as the Manager of the Legionella Control Association. He has contributed to industry work including representation for industry bodies, and the development of guidance and standards. He is: n A past chairman of the Legionella Control Association. n A member of the British Association of Chemical Specialities Water Treatment Group. n A BSI committee member. n A contributor to HSG274 and ACOP L8 2013. n A Working Group member for the latest revision of BS 8580-1:2019: Risk Assessments for Legionella Control.


n A Working Group member for BS8680:2020: Water Safety Planning. n A Working Group member for BS7592: Legionella sampling, date TBC. n A Working Group member for BS 8580-2, date and title TBC.


Nick Barsby


Nick Barsby is the Marketing and Publicity officer for the LCA, as well as being the current Vice-Chair. He has over 15 years’ experience in Legionella control. Having worked for some of the UK’s leading testing laboratories as a Business Development manager, Sales manager, and Commercial manager, he has an extensive knowledge of analytical test methods and procedures. Playing a pivotal role in the introduction of MALDI-ToF confirmations in the UK market, Nick has ‘a track record of innovation’ and driving positive changes in every organisation he has worked with. Within the LCA Nick was a member of the Standards Review Committee, and has written and co-written numerous published articles on a range of subjects, including: n Factors to consider when reporting and interpreting a positive Legionella result. n ESKAPE pathogens – Antibiotic-resistant bacteria in healthcare settings. n MALDI-ToF confirmations. n Understanding UKAS Sample Matrix types.
