2024 activity and conclusion of Five Year Business Plan

The Institute closes 2024 following a year of significant growth in its activities and offer to members, and will this month release the concluding Annual Report of the current Five Year Business Plan, ahead of launching the Business Plan for 2025-2029 next year.

Highlights of the period include expanding the training and development offer available to members, supporting members to become professionally registered – with a significant uptake in EngTech and non-standard routes, and to Authorising Engineer status across the Water, Electrical, and Decontamination disciplines in 2024 alone. The Institute has initiated a new training programme in the areas of Institute membership and professional registration review and interview, and rolled out the IHEEM Mentor Scheme, which is also supported by CPD-certified training and recognition. In addition to the new Innovation in Healthcare Conference held in the East Midlands Region, IHEEM has delivered, and continues to drive, the reach of its existing events programme. The Institute’s conference and exhibition calendar, STEM outreach, Technical and Advisory Platform workshops, and regional branch CPD activity

and site visits, all contribute to a thriving and impactful schedule of knowledge sharing and professional development opportunity.

The visual branding and modernisation of IHEEM has taken great strides, notably in the past 12 months, as the Head Office redevelopment, due for completion this month, is set to reflect the forward-thinking outlook of the Institute. Across digital media, improvements have been made to the IHEEM website interface and user experience, and print resources have seen both new launches and rebranding, through the Pocket Guides for Mentoring, Professional Development, and CPD, as well as the new look and feel Health Estate Journal. As part of its Paper to

Digital programme, IHEEM’s collaboration with Quiqsolutions to develop, test, and launch the brand new AE Governance and Audit software (see also HEJ – October 2024) marks a major step forward in the Institute’s commitment to driving standards across compliance and efficiency within healthcare estates and engineering environments. Paul Kaye of Quiqsolutions, who led the project to launch, said: “This represents a major new development in the auditing and future compliance within EFM, with plans to increase the scope into many other operational areas.”

On the progress seen across IHEEM’s business activity in the past five years, IHEEM CEO, Pete Sellars, remarked: “I am extremely proud of the great

strides the Institute has taken, with the support of its partners and stakeholders, to both support our members in their respective fields, and to contribute to a safe, effective, and efficient healthcare environment. I look forward to continuing to improve our offer, resources, and outreach, and detailing how the Institute intends to deliver these aims as part of our next Five Year Business Plan.”
