‘Back to the Future’ for Wales event: harnessing past lessons for tomorrow’s healthcare estate
IHEEM and NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, Specialist Estates Services are joining together to deliver the annual Wales Regional Conference, Exhibition, and Gala Awards Dinner on 28 and 29 May this year. The event is taking place at The
Celtic Manor Resort, Newport, with the conference and exhibition being held in the International Convention Centre (ICC), and the Gala Dinner in the Celtic Manor Hotel. The conference, titled ‘Back to the Future’, will look at lessons learnt from the past to deliver the healthcare estate of the future, building on the issues from the 2023 Wales conference, and focusing on the following three streams: n Workforce development. n Structure and architecture. n Shared resources.
The programme will seek to address the following challenges: n Workforce competency, with news on a pilot being led by the IHEEM Decontamination Technical Platform in Wales. (See also article, pages 39-42.)
n Making our infrastructure compliant and resilient with appropriate governance.
n Modern material and construction methods using Building Information Modelling (BIM).
n Investing to create the workforce of tomorrow, creating an accreditation framework to provide assurance of professional standards staff’s careers.
n Future workforce delivery, including training the next generation, with an open floor discussion on
governance around Competent and Authorised Persons.
n Communication across estates using AI.
The Institute said “This conference is being hosted in a great location, and – in line with IHEEM’s commitment to make its events affordable – tickets are available to IHEEM members at £75 a day (+VAT). We would like to thank our Company Affiliates for their continued support, sponsorship, and involvement in our exhibitions. This is vital to the success of our events programme”. There are three awards available
for sponsorship at the event: Estates & Facilities Team of the Year, Estates Champion of Champions, and Apprentice of the Year. There will also be an award for the best exhibitor stand. Eastwood Park Training, one of IHEEM’s Knowledge Partners, is the event sponsor.
