Professional development role for former set designer
IHEEM’s new Professional Development Manager, Zanna Mercer, who joined the head office team in February, has a varied and interesting background, with particular experience in commercial management in the hospitality industry, events management – including for FMCG companies such as Unilever and Molton Brown, set and production design for theatre, and social media and marketing.
During her BA Hons course in
Drama & Theatre Arts at Goldsmiths in London, and after graduating in 2011, she enjoyed freelance work as a set and prop designer for theatre, got involved in theatre production, and concurrently progressed from bar work to commercial management in the hospitality industry, including at number of busy London clubs and bars. She said: “I have always been a ‘people’ person, and enjoy and thrive on the at times quite pressured and frenetic atmosphere in the hospitality industry. On the events management side, meanwhile, I had some interesting freelance assignments – including working on events management for product launches for Unilever brand, Marmite, and luxury brands such as Molton Brown.” From mid-2014 until November
last year she worked in commercial management roles for the National Trust, at BrewDog on the south coast, and for six years at the National Theatre on London’s South Bank. She explained: “These roles included multi-site management of hospitality and events, and staff management, which was very enjoyable, challenging, and gave a me great buzz. They also provided me with considerable experience of working with large client bases – a strong asset when I applied for the job here at IHEEM. “My role in Portsmouth will entail

I do, in fact, have a personal ‘link’ to the sector, in that my father, now retired, was a healthcare architect, and had talked to me about IHEEM on a number of occasions.” Having recently moved to Worthing, in her spare time Zanna enjoys gardening, and has recently embarked upon a three- year Diploma in Traditional and Modern Upholstery, which she is undertaking one day a week at a London university. The priorities and deliverables set out in this document have been ratified by IHEEM Council, and outline how we are

It also provides a range of direct finance options to fund integrated energy and carbon-saving projects as a coordinated package, and support the drive towards Net Zero – ‘often with guaranteed savings’.
