have spread quickly throughout the country, burgeoning on the popularity of Premier League football. Tere are now over ten sports betting operators licensed by the National Lottery Administration (NLA), all of which have branches in the regional states. On average, each company operates around 30 sports betting shops. Under the terms of the licence, the NLA receives 15 per cent of the companies’ profits.
SOUTHERN AFRICA
Southern Africa is the southernmost region of the African continent with a number of independent states including South Africa. Southern Africa is home to around 209 million people. While there has been significant economic growth in Southern Africa, the number of people living in poverty has been grown. While it is the most stable region in the continent, there is still widespread corruption and inequality according to the African Development Bank Group.
