“That was unbelievable,” he recalls. “To have


two winners on the first day, an Arkle and a Mares’ Hurdle, was brilliant. Then you get greedy and you want to have more, but the goal going to Cheltenham every year is to have one winner. Any more than that is a bonus.” Others went close last year. Minella Indo was


just caught by Champ in the RSA Chase, A Plus Tard finished a close-up third in the Ryanair Chase, while Aspire Tower kept on to finish second in the Triumph Hurdle. Monalee, Captain Guinness and Plan Of Attack also ran well. It was a strong team.
