Europe back to Cheltenham two years later, a novice chaser with a chance in the Arkle. He had won all four of his novice chases earlier that season, including the Grade 1 Bord na Mona Novices’ Chase at Leopardstown’s Christmas Festival.
He travelled with his customary verve, jumped with his customary accuracy, and stayed on well up the hill to get home by three parts of a length from Somersby. “That was special all right, your first Cheltenham
Festival winner,” recalls de Bromhead now. “It’s so hard to win there. “But every winner is important – it doesn’t matter
where it is. Every horse has its target. To get a horse to fulfil his or her potential. To get a horse to win a particular race. We get a kick out of every winner.” Sizing Europe went back to Cheltenham in 2011
