Free registration opens for plastics recycling exhibition and conference
Free online registration has now opened for the Plastics Recycling World Expo 2019, which will be held at the Huntington Convention Center in downtown Cleveland, Ohio on May 8-9, 2019. Organised by AMI, the tradeshow will take place alongside the Compounding World Expo and the Plastics Extrusion World Expo. By registering in advance, visitors will receive free admission to all three exhibitions, featuring more than 200 leading suppliers, plus free entry to five conference theatres hosting technical presentations, educational seminars and business debates. Attendees and exhibitors will also have the option to buy tickets (just $20 each) for a networking party at Cleveland’s iconic
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on the evening of May 8. “The event will provide visitors with a great opportu- nity to meet and compare suppliers from around the world, as well as giving them the chance to learn from business leaders and technical experts in the conference theatres,” said Rita Andrews, head of exhibi- tions at AMI. “Our debut compounding and recycling exhibitions in Essen, Ger- many attracted 4,024 visitors, and we are confident that our first Cleveland shows will build on this success and be the biggest plastics industry gathering in the USA in 2019”. The three expos, which will occupy the two largest halls at the state-of-the-art Huntington Convention
Center, will feature a wide array of leading manufactur- ers of recycling, compound- ing and extrusion equipment, plus suppliers of a huge variety of polymers, additives and related services. The exhibitor line-up
already includes companies such as Starlinger, Cumber- land, Struktol, Nordson, Gneuss, Zerma, Vecoplan, Exxel Polymers, American Cutting Edge, Cardinal Recycling, Beier, Herbold USA, Dr Collin, Davis-Stand- ard, Aceretech, Una-Dyn, Boretech, Baerlocher, Coperion, Milliken, Maag, Cabot, Leistritz, CPM Century, Maguire, Entek, NFM, Polyscope, Chemours, Orion, Clariant, Advanced Blending Systems, B&P Littleford, and over 100 additional leading suppliers.

equipment Axion Polymers has invested in more labora- tory test equipment at its plastics recycling facility in Salford, UK. The plant refines plastics recovered from end-of-life vehicles at Axion’s nearby facility at Trafford Park, Manchester. The company says its
laboratory investment further enhances its technical capability in supplying tailored polymers to suit specific end-user requirements, such as modified melt flow, impact resistance and tensile strength. The investment
includes a new injection moulding machine, that will enable a greater range of polymer testing and further development of recycled polymer grades. Axion’s in-house test capability now includes a Fourier Transform mid-infrared spectrometer for analys- ing the composition of black and dark-coloured polymer chips, a near- infrared multi-chip spectrometer for rapid analysis of large quanti- ties of polymer chips and an X-Ray fluorescence analyser for heavy metals and bromine. The laboratory also has a notched Izod impact tester, a tensile tester and a lab-scale injection moulder to produce test pieces and evaluate performance.
