K2025 – MATERIALS | EXHIBITION PREVIEW

Focus on materials K2025

In this issue, we focus on new resins and additives of interest to injection moulders, that are being showcased at K2025 – including a growing number of recyclate-based grades

Masterbatch specialist AF-Color will present several innovations at K2025 – with a focus on its growing portfolio of polyketone-based products. Polyketone has high chemical and abrasion

resistance plus high CO₂ balance compared to other thermoplastics, it says. The range of colour masterbatches for polyketone offers good process- ability and colour qualities. This is complemented by cleaning granules for use after polyketone. A UV stabilisation method is undergoing trials, which could make the use of polyketone even more versatile in future, it says. AF-Color will also showcase polyamide-based masterbatches with high mechanical strength, toughness and thermal resistance. One highlight is a masterbatch coordinated according to RAL 2003 for electromobility components. For laser-marked components, it offers a laser additive which – com- bined with a black masterbatch, for example – ena- bles high-contrast, precise laser markings. A blowing agent enables a density reduction of up to 40% in PA components.

batches which, combined with recyclates from its sister company Bio-Fed, enables solutions that combine technical performance with high PCR content. www.af-color.com

Asahi Kasei will unveil PFAS-free polyamides and recycling technology for continuous carbon fibres – as well as materials for automotive applications – at K2025. In response to increasing demand for PFAS-free

materials, it is developing a PFAS-free low-friction Leona polyamide. Based on internal evaluations, the material has the same low-friction properties as fluororesins, making it suitable for sliding applica- tions in industries including automotive, robot parts, OA parts and sporting goods. One automotive solution is its AZP transparent

polymer, which features an almost zero birefrin- gence and light weight. It overcomes the challeng- es of conventional transparent polymers in applica-
