final moisture content of the granules, Moisture Meter Manager interfaces with the dryer by automatically defining and managing process parameters for drying and energy efficiency. Controls at the hoppers’ input and output allows the system to handle the dryers’ working condi- tions by maximising process performance. Accord- ing to Moretto, this operating mode ensures the drying process is highly energy efficient and provides the required product certification. Moisture Meter Manager integrates the dryer into an adaptive system for smart factory 4.0 projects. The system is fully automatic and reliable as it works on the dielectric characteristics of the granule. Power-Peak technology ensures accurate residual moisture control of the plastic granules. Material is scanned and measured in-line and produces real-time moisture levels every two seconds, providing granule quality reports with frequencies that can be set to meet specific requirements. Motan Colortronic has developed the EMA line

of fully adaptive smart dryers. The company says that the new mobile single hopper unit builds on the ETA Plus technology used in central drying systems with multiple hoppers. The EMA dryers are specifically designed to offer consist- ently low dew point air to a drying bin of 60, 100 and 150 litres, while reducing energy consumption to a minimum. The dryers are available with fully auto- matic air flow control, saving further energy and automatically creating an anti-stress system for the material. The units can be supplied with single conveying units or a mini central system built in to the dryer, ensuring a flexible unit. The touch screen control is claimed to be compact and easy to use, while the solid state relays and high quality parts ensure optimum reliability. The control can be connected to a Motan Colortronic control report and VisuNet workstation. The heat insulated drying hopper has a large cleaning opening with sight window so cleaning the hopper is easy and simple, reducing down time to a minimum. mobile use, fitted with PLC controllers. Up to six multi-chamber drying modules with capacities of 50-300 litres can be combined to form a drying system. A sixth model has just recently been added to the top of the range, meaning through- puts of 5-150 kg/h can now be handled. The mobile units comprise a dry air generator and single chamber drying bin and are claimed to be particularly suitable for the versatile pre-processing of frequently changing pellet types. The company says that all

stationary and mobile RDT and RDM models offer drying temperatures of 60-140°C as standard, with high temperature variants for up to 180°C being available as an option, which can also be retrofitted. Smart energy-saving systems make the dryers particularly resource-efficient, with drying air volume matched to throughput and regeneration cycles that are controlled on the basis of the actual water content of the pellets. The dryers are also simple to install, clean and maintain. Integrated dry air conveying for automatically charging processing machines is available as an option.

All Somos dryers are fitted with network-compatible PLC controllers. A 6 inch colour touchscreen with graphical user interface ensures intuitive operation. Once interlinked with injection moulding machines, as well as peripheral components and conveyors using a wide variety of available inter- faces, the components can communicate with one another in real time.

The Wittmann Aton plus H material dryer can now also be supported by the Wittmann 4.0 concept. The new Aton plus H segmented wheel dryer can be connected with a Wittmann Battenfeld injection moulding machine via a router and subsequently operated from the machine’s control system without any restrictions. However, in order to ensure a uniform image on the machine’s control
